Trophy Whitetail
ARCHERY:
Our two month long archery season will run from September 7th to November 2nd 2005. This hunt is an excellent time to harvest a true TROPHY Whitetail buck. During this time of year we find that the big bucks are very predictable and consistent in their feeding patterns as they prepare for the upcoming rut.
“I hunt all over North America, and I look forward to my hunt in Alberta, more than any of the others. This was my third straight year, and you can bet I’ll be back” Scott Shultz.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Our area consists of over 50 square miles of private ranch/farm land that is managed for trophy quality bucks (140 P&Y inches or better). It is primarily cropland, (alfalfa, grains and peas) which provides the excellent forage needed to grow BIG BUCKS. Two, densely forested, Cotton wood river bottoms, provide the natural cover and water that is required to complete this habitat dreamland. Our area also offers a safe haven for the deer to grow to maturity. Here they can escape to one of the largest tracts of private/no hunting ground in Alberta. This area consistently produces huge bucks.
Our hunts are primarily done from strategically placed tree stands, although we do utilize ground blinds where necessary. We spend a great deal of time through the summer watching and filming the deer. We have hunted this area for over 20 years and we know every trail, river crossing and bedding area.
The early season (Sept.) movement is generally patterned travel routs between bedding and feeding areas. We get our hunters to their stands well before daylight where they sit patiently waiting for the mass migration of deer to clear off of the alfalfa fields and down through the wooded river bottoms. During the early season hunts, this action is usually over within an hour or two of sun up. After the action slows we return to camp for a hearty meal, and a strategy session. After breakfast you will have several hours to relax or shoot your bow or even fish in our famous trout stream running right past camp.
Late in the afternoon we return you to your stand to watch the whole parade in reverse. It is truly amazing to see an almost endless stream of deer appear as if by magic at the rivers edge. After a brief drink they filter across the water and onto one of the many heavy trails in the woods where your stand is waiting.1
As the season progresses into October, we find bucks moving for longer periods during the day. This is when their hormones begin to take over and rubs and scrapes begin to appear. Hunters can generally stay on stand longer and the closer you hunt to the rut the less predictable the bucks become.
The temperatures during these months can very greatly. This is Southern Alberta and the wind is almost always blowing to some degree or another. This has its pro’s and con’s and we try to take advantage of it. The later hunts tend to be colder and there is always a chance for snow. Look for temperatures to range from 30 F to 80 degrees in September and decrease to 25 F to 60 F in October. You can check up to the minute forecasts for your hunt by going to our weather link.1

RIFLE:1
November Rut Hunts
Come and see why the RUT is one of the most sought after times to hunt BIG BUCKS. We hunt the same great areas as the archery hunts, just throw in the RUT and you get all day action! This is a great time to see bucks anytime and anywhere, as they throw caution to the wind in search of love.
These hunts are only Three days in length, and run every Thursday through Saturday, during November. This is more than enough time to harvest your trophy, as most hunters don’t even make the full three days. However, if you would like to add an amazing waterfowl hunt, or test your shooting & calling skills on our abundant coyote population, then we have several excellent combo hunt opportunities. This gives you the chance to spend six days in camp and get to know your guide and the area before your deer hunt begins. We generally hunt these bucks with two methods, stand hunting or spot and stalk. Our stands overlook vast areas from excellent vantage points. The spot and stalk method is just that, locating bucks as they travel in search of does and then working into a suitable position for a shoot. No matter which method we use your hunt will be exciting.

Why rifle hunt Trophy White Tail with Three Rivers Adventures? |
|
The normal temperatures for November are 20-50 F with snow very possible. It can get down to 0 F with heavy snow. Wind is common here during all seasons, but during this time of year they usually include warm air from the pacific, called Chinooks. This generally keeps the snow pack from building to any substantial levels for extended periods of time. If you would like up to the minute conditions just visit our weather page.
We only take 8-10 hunters per year, in two zones, all of which are good but vary slightly. This allows us to offer personal service in non-crowded camp setting. Please call to see which areas are available for your hunt.
