Waterfowl and Upland Bird Hunts
Southern Alberta's secret is starting to get out! We are fast becoming one of the most popular destinations for superb waterfowl and upland bird hunting in North America. Our hunts are located in the heart of Canada's breadbasket, where corn, pea, and cereal crops are found in abundance. Add to this, the many large irrigation reservoirs and local lakes, ponds and wetlands - and you get the perfect staging area. Millions of geese and ducks from the Pacific and Central Flyways stage here throughout the fall. This area also boasts world class Hungarian Partridge and Sharp Tail Grouse hunting. There are many reasons why you should make us your next bird-hunting destination.
Excellent fall fly-fishing can be added or exchanged for afternoon shoots through October. (Fishing License $40.00 Extra)
The normal temperatures for September and early October are 50-80 F with possible rain. Our Weather can get down to 35 F with wet snow. Late October temperatures occasionally drop to 20 F with a good wind, but 35-70 is normal. Small ponds usually begin to freeze in early November; this sends some of the smaller puddle ducks South.
The normal temperatures for November and December are 20-50 F with snow always possible. It can get down to 0 F with heavy snow. Wind is common here during all seasons, but during this time of year they usually include warm air from the pacific, called Chinooks. These winds are a challenging but great time to hunt, putting the geese right on the deck and less likely to circle the decoys. This also keeps the snow pack from building to any substantial levels for extended periods of time. The last four years have seen little or no snow into December and temperatures in the 50’s.
